A brooding version, this displays cherry, black currant, smoke, earth, spice, sanguine and iron aromas and flavors. Tense and balanced in a compact way, with a firm, lingering finish. Mar 2017, www.winespectator.com, Drink: 2022-2040
(60% vendange entier): Medium red. Reduced nose is virtually mute today. Then concentrated and fine-grained on the palate, showing captivating floral lift to its sweet red berry flavor. Vincent noted that the limestone terroir on this hillside is similar to that of the Gevrey-Chambertin Les Evocelles. The yield here was 35 hectoliters per hectare, which Vincent described as good for these millerandé vines. Seriously rich, energetic wine with smooth tannins and excellent length. Jan 2016, www.vinous.com
The expressive and notably ripe nose is even spicier with its more deeply pitched combination of various dark berry liqueur-like aromas that are laced with earth, floral and game hints. There is more volume and power to the medium weight flavors that also possess a relatively fine mouth feel, all wrapped in a detailed finish that displays focused power and excellent depth and length. Good stuff. Jan 2016, www.burghound.com
The 2014 Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru Les Damodes, which includes 60% whole cluster fruit, has a clean and pure, detailed bouquet that is the "sister" of the 2014 Clos de Thorey.. The palate is medium-bodied with filigree tannin, nicely balanced but perhaps needing to develop more substance towards the finish. This is a good Nuits Saint Georges that might well meliorate significantly in bottle. Dec 2015, www.robertparker.com, Drink: 2017-2030
