This is a classic Boudots with its half Vosne/half Nuits personality as the aromatic profile is both ripe and spicy, offering a mix of red pinot and plum fruit notes that complement the rich, powerful and serious full-bodied flavors that possess solid dry extract level that confers a textured mouth feel by virtue of buffering the very firm and mouth coating tannins. This will require patience but should be worth the wait. Allen Meadows, Burghound, Jan30,2010.

The 2008 Nuits St. Georges Aux Boudots is a dark, mysterious wine laced with wild cherries, flowers and menthol. Supple and harmonious, the Boudots impresses for its elegance and sheer class. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2028. ||This is a gorgeous set of wines from Etienne and Marielle Grivot that captures the essence of several of Vosne’s most illustrious vineyards. Grivot encourages slow malos and leaves the wines on the lees for approximately 15 months after the vinification. New oak ranges from 15-20% for the villages, 30-50% for the 1ers and 40-70% for the grands crus. Based on the wines I tasted 2009 looks like a much more consistent vintage than 2008. The finest 2008s are also well worth considering, but there are more highs and lows, especially in the entry part of the range. Wine Advocate.May, 2011

Darker in color and deeper in fruit intensity than the corresponding Roncieres, Grivot’s 2008 Nuits-St.-Georges Les Boudots – which comes from his oldest vines – mingles leather and burley tobacco scents with those of cassis and blackberry. Tartly-concentrated black berries and smoky carnal notes – along with an alkaline mineral streak – run all the way through this long-finishing, firmly-textured, bright Nuits-St.-Georges. While marginally less interesting or enticing today than its Roncieres counterpart, it certainly looks likely to be worth following for at least a decade.
