Mild reduction knocks down the nose though notes of spice and warm earth are discernible, both of which can be found on the fresh, cool and admirably precise middle weight flavors that are underpinned by relatively refined tannins. There is some Nuits muscle but overall, this is really quite pretty with a touch of natural sweetness on the mouth coating finish. Tasted: Jan 14, 2013. Drink: 2018+
The 2011 Nuits-St-Georges Village comes from four parcels located in the northern sector of the appellation. It has a lively, “sparky” little nose with lively red berries intermixed with citrus fresh fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, quite supple tannins and again, a nice line of acidity. There is just a slight loss of focus toward the finish when it needed a little of delineation, but otherwise this is a decent Village Cru. Drink now-2016. ||Two doors down from Anne Gros is cousin Michel. I have been visiting here for a number of years and Michel always makes thoughtfully crafted wines. I sometimes do find them a little on the oaky side, which occasionally denudes them of some finesse, but they are very consistent., 2013
