This is also quite ripe with earthy black cherry, plum, earth and spice hints preceding the solidly mineral-driven medium-bodied flavors that also possess unusually fine tannins that contribute to the refined mouth feel of the moderately structured and beautifully complex finish. As with virtually all of the wines in the Taupenot 2010 range, this has a palpable feel of energy to it and you just feel like drinking this, if for no other reason that all of the structural elements are in perfect harmony. Note however that despite the refinement this is firm and will need plenty of cellar time. Allen Meadows, Burghound.com

The 2010 Morey Saint Denis La Riotte literally hovers on the palate. This is an especially weightless, gracious Morey endowed with gorgeous length and finesse. Dark cherries, spices and licorice are some of the many notes that are layered into the long, pure finish. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2022. ||Romain Taupenot lost between 25-40% of his 2010 production to the poor weather, although some of his lower lying parcels were down as much as 80%. Fortunately the Grand Crus were down only 15% on average. The harvest began on September 23. Taupenot reported that the fruit required some sorting in the winery. Wine Advocate.February, 2012

Sweet, polished, silky. Very charming, What’s not to like? Great precision. Long. Great vibrancy. GV? Jancis Robinson, jancisrobinson.com

Domaine Taupenot-Merme is based in Morey-St-Denis and has 13 hectares under vine in the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune. With a history stretching back to the mid 18th century, the estate really began to come into its own in 1998 when Romain Taupenot joined the domaine full time. The organically cultivated vines, together with low yields and careful sorting practices produce wines that are full of fruit, expressive bouquets, and gentle tannins.
