This is both more elegant and somewhat surprisingly, a bit riper as well, with its aromas of citrus, Granny Smith apples, pear and pure floral nuances. There is an intense minerality underpinning the equally pure and beautifully well-delineated middle weight flavors that possess better concentration and fine length on the clean, dry, saline and well-balanced finish. This isn't a truly stunning example of the appellation but it's more than competent. Tasted: Jun 11, 2013. Drink: 2018+
Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. The 2011 Meursault 1er Cru les Perrières from Vicent Girardin has a much more feminine, almost dainty bouquet compared to Bouzereau’s and Comtes-Lafon’s, but I appreciate the detail here and the floral quality that combines nicely with the mineral aromas filtering through with aeration. The palate is tense and vibrant right from the start: a keen thread of acidity here, very good minerality and poise with a flourish of citrus peel, lemongrass and lime toward the persistent finish. This will need 3 or 4 years to fully coalesce, but it will be worth the wait. eRobertParker.com.November, 2014
