The 2012 Lynch-Bages is deep ruby/purple with tell-tale cassis notes. Medium-bodied, but somewhat foursquare and monolithic, it has well above average concentration, impressive purity and nicely integrated tannins and wood. Nevertheless, there is something bland and one-dimensional about Lynch-Bages in 2012, making it somewhat of a disappointment. Drink it over the next 12-15 years.| eRobertParker.com.April, 2015

A fruity wine for the vintage with dense tannins. Full body, with impressive structure. Long finish. Generous and attractive. I like the balance and precision for the vintage. James Suckling, jamessuckling.com

Pure and racy, delivering a core of violet, cassis and cherry, well-framed by a sleek, iron-coated structure. Features a long, taut, focused finish. Shows the austerity of the vintage, but this remains long and pure, with fine cut. WineSpectator.com—J.M.

71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot. Quite intense on the nose with rich dark fruit and sweet spice. The palate is concentrated and deep, with dense, tightly packed tannins. Not as exuberant as in previous years but this is nonetheless classic Lynch Bages. FINE+RARE

Château Lynch-Bages is one of the most important châteaux of Bordeaux, one of the leading estates of Pauillac, and one of the most reliable sources of fine claret in the region. Owned by the Cazes family since 1939, and classed as a cinquième grand cru, of fifth growth, in the 1855 classification, the quality here has been reliably excellent since the 1980s, and Lynch-Bages is well known in all wine markets for producing what some might call the epitome of Pauillac whatever the quality of the vintage.

The vineyard, which is planted to Cabernet Sauvignon (72%), Merlot (20%), Cabernet Franc (5%) and Petit Verdot (3%). A white wine, Blanc de Lynch-Bages, is made from a separate plot. About 3,000 cases of Blanc de Lynch-Bages each year: this is made up of 53% Sauvignon Blanc, 32% Sémillon and a relatively large proportion of Muscadelle at 15%.

The best vintages of Lynch-Bages in recent years would be the 2009 and 2010, and the excellent 2005 and 2006 vintages should not be overlooked. The best mature vintages of Lynch-Bages would be the brilliant duo of 1989 and 1990.
