This is the first vintage I have tasted from this estate run by Olivier Bernard, also the proprietor of Domaine de Chevalier, and it appears to be a sleeper of the vintage. An opaque ruby/purple color and aromas of graphite, barbecue smoke and black currants are followed by a medium to full-bodied, concentrated wine displaying impressive purity, texture and length. It should drink nicely for 15 or more years. Wine Advocate.May, 2011

Loads of fruit in this wine with blueberry and currants and lots of oak. Full and velvety. Very impressive for the chateau. James Suckling, jamessuckling.com

Deliciously ripe and open, with layers of plum, fig and boysenberry. Then the grip slides in on the finish, with licorice and dark tobacco-tinged tannins that give nice cut. Rock-solid. Olivier Bernard of Domaine de Chevalier has made a quick turnaround here. James Molesworth, winespectator.com

The new wine from the Domaine de Chevalier stable. Blackish purple. Cool and somehow tasting slightly unformed as though from young vines even though the vines are apparently 30 years old. . Succulent palate but still a bit awkward. Dry and a little as though the fruit has been sucked out. Particularly embryonic. Jancis Robinson, jancisrobinson.com

The deep ruby 2010 Lespault-Martillac has gorgeous notes of plums, tobacco, cedar and blackberries, followed on the palate by vibrant and precise fresh plum flavours and wonderful minerality and length. This property, managed by Olivier Bernard of Domaine de Chevalier, has produced a brilliant red to match its white wine in 2010, and for anyone seeking an excellent value claret is one to seek out. Really lovely, this is proper claret! medium weight, good mineral component and very elegant. made in the same style as Dom de Chevalier. Highly recommended.
