One of the best wines produced by proprietress Sophie Fourcade since their 1998, the 2010 from Les Grandes Murailles is a real beauty. Floral notes interwoven with blueberry, mulberry and black cherry as well as crushed chalk jump from the glass, giving the wine a striking precision and minerality as well as lavish fruit. It is full-bodied, rich, pure, textured and impressively long. Drink it over the next 15 years. Wine Advocate.February, 2013
Grandes Murailles - This tiny, 1.46-hectare vineyard is planted to 100% Merlot on clay and limestone soils. Licorice, minerality, coco powder, fresh jammy berry scents and oak pair well with the opulent, round textures and rich layers of juicy ripe, licorice coated black cherries.
The Grandes Murailles has a generous nose with vanillary red-berried fruit, a touch of orange essence and spice. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, very silky and smooth though perhaps just lacking that edginess or structure on the finish? But very stylish and harmonious, very well crafted. Tasted April 2011. Neal Martin,
Very clean and pretty fruit with blackberry and currants with hints of minerals. Full body, with pretty tannins and a delicate finish.
