2012 Les Carmes Haut Brion

The 2012 Les Carmes Haut Brion is one of the most eye-catching buys from Parker's bottle tasting of the its Bordeaux vintage. Described as “silky textured… complex, stunning”, it’s an outstanding buy. Thanks to its low production Les Carmes Haut-Brion remains somewhat of an insider’s Bordeaux.

This may well change with this superb performance in 2012:

Parker made reference in his April 2015 report to how well these Pessacs are showing with “low acidity and opulence” giving an instant appeal. This is no exception & up-scored to 94 points (from 89-91 in barrel). Rich and lush, performing superbly from bottle and won’t take years to come round.

Its score is so impressive that that it now matches some absolute icons of the region for Parker, including the likes of Cheval Blanc, Mouton-Rothschild and Evangile.

This quality is due to the excellent site, described by Parker as “a tiny jewel of a vineyard” it’s in very close proximity to an icon of the region, the first growth Haut Brion. Very well priced for the quality, this is a great addition to any collection.

An inky, bluish-black color, this wine has deep black raspberry and blueberry notes mixed with charcoal, graphite and subtle smoke. Rich, full-bodied and silky textured, this complex, stunning Pessac-Léognan from this tiny jewel of a vineyard near Haut Brion is hitting all the high notes in 2012. It should drink well for 15-20. This is another bottled wine that dramatically out-performed its barrel sample.| eRobertParker.com.April, 2015

This shows amazing fruit with blackberries and licorice character. Smoky too. Full body, with wonderful fruit and tannins. Goes on for a very, very long time. 40% Cabernet Franc, 30% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon. James Suckling, jamessuckling.com
