This is one estate where the 1989 outshines the 1990. The 1989 displays a youthful deep ruby/purple color, and dense, tannic, muscular flavors that are just beginning to reveal sweetness and opulence. Backward, youthfully tannic, and grapy for a 1989, this artisinally-styled, robust, muscular Pomerol will benefit from another 2-3 years of cellaring. It should keep for 15-20 years. Last tasted 11/97. Robert Parker, Bordeaux Book, 3rd Edition # B1

Tannic monster. Full-bodied, with masses of superripe fruit and mouthpuckering tannins. Port lovers like me love this stuff. Age it for decades to come.--1989 Bordeaux horizontal. Best after 2006. James Suckling,Wine Spectator 1999
