The Lamothe-Guignard has a light pear and honey-scented bouquet that takes time to unwind in the glass and eventually evolves a pleasant brioche-tinged aroma. The palate is medium-bodied with a rounded, viscous entry but somehow, it never really builds on the promise, and I find the finish comparatively flat. Hopefully this will improve during maturation. Drink 2013-2022.-Robert Parker, Wine Advocate april 2012

Tasted blind at the Sauternes 2011 horizontal tasting. The Château Lamothe-Guignard 2011 has a complex bouquet with dried honey, white peach, hints of barley sugar, rosewater and mandarin, all tightly wound at the moment but sure to blossom with bottle age. The palate is medium-bodied with pure botrytis fruit, good tension and poise, dried honey and orange peel on the entry, but just missing a little length and persistence on the finish. Other than that, this should age nicely. eRobertParker.com.February, 2015

A very lush, tropical style, with mouthfilling, creamy-textured mango, peach, fig and apricot flavors that are all woven together nicely. Offers lots of toasted hazelnut and ginger cream on the finish, where you can really see the depth. James Molesworth, WineSpectator.com

RS 140 g/l, TA 4.0 g/l. Pale gold. Quite mineral/oily on the nose, some very ripe fruit underneath. Honey and lemon on the palate. Rich apricot fruit, very tangy and full. Touch of barley sugar on the finish. Warm and full and luscious – so much so that the freshness is not so obvious. Julia Harding MW, jancisrobinson.com

Great improvements made by the Guignard brothers. There is good concentration and sweetness supported by firm acidity. Balanced, poised with fairly long length. Another underrated Sauternes offering great value. Drink 2019-2031. (16.5 points). Decanter.com
