Tasted single blind against its peers. The Lamothe Guignard 2008 has a light, citrus lemon, quince and apricot-scented bouquet that is missing the same level of cohesion and intensity compared to a year ago. The palate is better than the nose suggests, with good weight, an attractive waxy texture and spicy, lanolin-tinged fruit. The finish has a nice fatness and decent length and should age extremely well. Tasted January 2012. Wine Advocate.February, 2012

Lamothe Guignard is an under-the-radar gem of a Sauternes. It has a ripe, pretty bouquet of fresh tangerine, apricot and quince with splendid lift and delineation. The palate is very appealing with great harmony, weight and focus, good levels of botrytis with great purity and focus on the finish. A very accomplished, succinct Sauternes 2008, this will repay extended cellaring. Drink now-2030+ Neal Martin, Wine Advocate May 2011
