While I have never had a problem with volatile acidity in what is supposedly the second wine of La Mission-Haut-Brion, La Tour-Haut-Brion has never hit the high points given the fact that it is a burly, tannic, beefy, husky wine with considerable weight and power. The 1970 is more tannic and less well-balanced than the great 1975. I do not think it will ever lose its coarseness. While it may last another 20-30 years, what's the point of holding it?
