A pretty, elegant wine that is 100% Merlot but a very limited production (around 700-800 cases in most years), the 2010 displays good integration of oak and mulberry, plum and black raspberry fruit intermixed with some licorice, underbrush, vanillin and spice box. This is a voluptuously textured, round, seductive style of Pomerol to drink over the next 12-15 years. Wine Advocate.February, 2013

Tasted at the Circle de Rive Droite. The La Fleur du Gay has a beautiful, floral, almost Margaux-like nose with blueberry, cases and dark plum intertwined with great mineralité. The palate is very well defined and quite linear, good grip with firm dry tannins cloaked in ripe dark berried fruit. My only concern is that is cuts away surprisingly abruptly towards the shellfish-tinged finish. This should mellow during élevage and possibly merit a higher score in a couple of years. Chewy and fruity, with blackberry and chocolate aromas and flavors. Full and tight tannins. Slightly one dimensional but should develop nicely. A little disappointing. jamessuckling.com

Velvety from the start, with alluring mocha, raspberry, black tea and crushed plum notes. There's an alluring whiff of smoke on the finish. Builds and builds. Long. James Molesworth, winespectator.com

Simple fruity appeal – very purple fruits. Starts sweet and then becomes very opulent. Very Rollandian(?) Opulence of texture without that much flavour and the hint of dried fruits. jancisrobinson.com

The stunning 2010 La Fleur de Gay has beautiful aromatics of violets, roses, blackberries, cedar, tobacco and spice, which carry through to a palate of gorgeous texture and richness. This is a glorious Pomerol from 2010, a wine that is approachable now but will keep for a few decades. asianpalate.com
