One of the excellent estates run by Jean-Philippe Janoueix, La Confession has grown in size and is now nearly 19 acres. Average vine age is 39 years and the 2013, which is one of the better wines of the vintage, is a final blend of 62% Merlot and 38% Cabernet Franc. It achieved 13.7% natural alcohol with only 48% of the crop making it into his top cuvee. A nice dark bluish, plum/ruby with hints of white chocolate, creosote, black currant and cherry fruit, the wine shows beautiful attack and surprising texture and ripeness in the mid-palate. The finish has sweet tannin and the wine has the potential to be outstanding and one of the stars of the vintage. Drink it over the next 8-10 years. Wine Advocate.August, 2014
