De Boüard consults here now. Used to be Derenoncourt. Exceptionally dark crimson. Sweet and satisfying on the nose. Some real interest to this wine; not just formulaic. As well as the sweet fruit there is some attractive drive - and a good clean finish. Apr 2016,, Drink: 2024-2035
50% Cabernet Franc and a little Malbec. Fragrant, dark fruit and liquorice notes. Tannins are sweet, ripe and fine. Smooth texture with freshness running through and length on the finish. Really precise this year. Apr 2016, James Lawther MW,, Drink: 2021-2035
The 2015 Jean Faure has a Merlot-driven, slightly warm bouquet that needs a little more delineation to come through by the time of bottling. The palate is medium-bodied with quite a lot of new oak to be subsumed, but there is good depth here with attractive delineation on the finish. It needs more finesse, but it could well deliver at the top of my expectations once in bottle. Apr 2016,, Drink: 2021-2045
The 2015 Jean Faure is harmonious and beautifully balanced from start to finish. Silky, open-knit and gracious, the 2015 shows the more feminine side of the year. Crushed flowers, plums, spices and sweet dark cherries are all laced into the expressive finish. This decidedly forward, fruit driven Saint-Émilion should drink well relatively early. Apr 2016,
