This property continues to sort of muddle along, and rarely do I see something that would recall their glory days of the 1980s and early 1990s. This is a solidly made wine, the oak somewhat less aggressively presented than usual, but the wine has surprising acidity for a 2010, good smoky black cherry and black currant fruit, but the wood, toast and lack of concentration to back up such use of wood are apparent. Drink over the next 7-8 years. Wine Advocate.February, 2013

Usually this is a little extravagant at primeur, so I am surprised by the composure on the nose with pure blackberry, cassis and plum aromas. The palate is very tannic and muscular with some dry, gritty tannin on the entry: black fruits laced with spice and espresso, the finish more controlled with good acidity and focus. This should melt together into a fine Haut-Marbuzet. Tasted April 2011. Neal Martin erobertparker.com

A little bit of oak on the nose. Very sweet and round and a bit spindly. Rather harsh and taut on the end. Awfully tight and hard work. Chewy end. jancisrobinson.com

Big smoky cassis nose and lots of ripeness and depth, good depth and good future. Drink 2014-20. Steven Spurrier, decanter.com

Haut Maubuzet - Medium boded, cassis filled, correctly made, beefy wine that should drink well shortly after release. winecellarinsider.com

The deep ruby 2010 Haut-Marbuzet has aromas of blackberries, blueberries, cedar, plums and violets, followed by fairly upfront flavours with good mid palate fruit and a lovely lifted finish. This is a very impressive, classic St Estephe from a property that is making excellent wine and should be better known. asianpalate.com
