|The 2005 Château Grand Mayne is a real showstopper. Even when tasted alongside icons such as 2003 Ausone and 2000 Cheval Blanc (as we did on a trip to Bordeaux), the Grand Mayne stood out as one of the most memorable. Now at a lovely stage in its development, it is rich, opulent, showy and very complete. It has absolutely everything the Bordeaux drinker looks for and is nothing short of a steal. That it is showing so well is perhaps no surprise. 2005 was a great vintage across Bordeaux but Parker rates it specifically highly for St Emilion, scoring above even the mighty 2009 and 2010 at a full 99 points overall. It is a vintage whose reputation seems to grow with every tasting, meaning that if Parker were to taste the Grand Mayne again as part of his upcoming ‘05 retrospective, an upscore from its already impressive 93 could well be on the cards. This is exceptional wine - a real stand-out from the many that we tasted on our trip and a wine that is drinking very well now, whilst only set to improve further over the coming years.|

Grand Mayne’s 2005 (a blend of 75% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon) is a sexy, fleshy St.-Emilion with a dense ruby/purple color and loads of blueberry, cassis and black raspberry fruit. It is medium to full-bodied, luscious, and already drinkable, although capable of lasting another 10-15 years.| eRobertParker.com.June, 2015
“Notes of sweet oak and dark ripe fruit on the nose, slightly floral and gamey. A lovely balance maintained throughout the palate, with layers of ripe rounded tannins. Dark and quite substantial, well structured by acidity, very appealing. A wine with great potential that offers superb value.”
