Coming from a historic Champagne producer of "unparalleled lineage", the Celebris 2004 from Gosset is a highly compelling wine.
2004 is a vintage that many critics are already earmarking for its quality. As Champagne expert Richard Juhlin says, “What is remarkable about 2004 is its combination of quantity and quality…the early-release vintage cuvées are delightful… delicious in their youth but showing an outstanding harmony and energy that indicates promise for the cellar.” We have tried the 2004 Celebris ourselves and have to agree: pure and precise, it is already drinking beautifully well.
Juhlin has called Gosset “One of the absolute foremost domains in the Champagne region” and, to those in the know, their releases are always in very hot demand. Just a couple of thousand cases are made of the Celebris each vintage - a tiny amount in Champagne terms against giant rivals such as Krug, Dom Perignon or Cristal. The majority of production goes straight into high-end restaurants and hotels, making Gosset to snap up whenever available.

A venerable vintage Champagne with pear and red apple aromas cushioned in an intriguing and complex palate, boasting incense and condensed-milk flavours, ending on a long and salt-driven finish with aromas of the ocean and white-driftwood purity. Superb now, but an interesting wine to follow for a decade or more. Sep 2016
