The Fonroque has a light but well defined bouquet that is not powerful, but has satisfactory finesse. The palate is medium-bodied with a pleasant silky texture. There is not great depth, but it shows restraint and finesse and there is crisp acidity on the understated finish. I just hope they do not apply excessive oak (it’s 40%...should be fine) because this lovely little 2011 does not need it. Tasted April 2012. Neal Martin,
Blueberry with hints of blackberries and orange peel. Medium body, with fine tannins and a bright finish. Nicely done for vintage.
Paler crimson hue. Clean, fresh and expressive with well-worked tannins and a long, firm finish. Chalky terroir evident. Drink 2018-2028.
An attractive combination of black cherries, black currants, spice box and earth jump from the glass of this dark plum/ruby/purple-tinged wine. Medium-bodied, pure and savory with sweet tannins, this offering from a biodynamically farmed vineyard exhibits good purity and depth. It should age easily for 10-15 years. Wine Advocate.April, 2014
