"A decidedly exuberant wine, the 2014 Fombrauge hits the palate with tons of depth and richness. Here the flavors are dark, bold and incisive. Blackberry jam, cloves, graphite, new leather, lavender, menthol and cedar wrap around the succulent, racy finish. All the elements are very much in balance. Readers who enjoy ripe, voluptuous wines will find much to admire. The 2014 will need time to fully absorb the new oak, but it appears to have the depth to be able to do that. Tasted two times."

The Château Fombrauge 2014, a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc picked between 2 and 20 October, has a rich and rather alcoholic bouquet that feels smudged compared to its peers. The palate is sweet and chewy on the entry, powerful and burly with immense weight on the middle and finish. It is redeemed by a decent line of acidity that prevents any cloyingness on the finish, but I would like to see more character and personality in this Saint Emilion Grand Cru Classé. Tasted three times with consistent notes. eRobertParker.com.April, 2015

This is dense and soulful with hot stone and berry character. Full body. Chewy. Better than 2012.

Sweet fruit with a hint of something more to come. A touch of jam. Sweet and jammy in the mouth though the style is well-executed. There is some energy, and some Fombrauge character. Good if you like the style. Joss Fowler, FINE+RARE, April 2015.
