A big, rich wine, the 2015 Domaine de l'A offers notable intensity from start to finish. Dark red cherry, plum, mint and rose petals all pushed forward in this succulent, deeply expressive Côtes de Castillon from Stéphane and Christiane Derenoncourt. Expressive aromatic overtones complement the wine's textural richness. The blend is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, of which 20% has whole clusters. Yields were just 30 hectoliters per hectare. The 2015 Domaine de L'A, the Côtes de Castillon from Stéphan Derenoncourt, is a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. It has a very concentrated bouquet driven by the very expressive and opulent Merlot, with figgy, date scents tucked in just behind giving it some exoticism. The palate is sweet on the entry with cassis and black cherry notes. There is plenty of sucrosity here, very generous in the mouth, although I would have liked a little more complexity on the finish. Still, this usually represents good value and it is certainly well made. Apr 2016, www.eRobertParker.com, Drink: 2019-2028

This is really powerful with tar, blackberry and dark chocolate aromas and flavors. Full body. Compacted and incredibly powerful. Tight, condensed. Best ever. Mar 2016, JamesSuckling.com

This captures the essence of the vintage, with dark currant and raspberry fruit carried by layers of velvety tannins. Broad and deep, but not heavy, with a long finish that feels pure and focused Mar 2016, James Molesworth, www.WineSpectator.com

A Stéphane Derenoncourt wine. Juicy and sweet. Round and very friendly. For relatively early drinking. Apr 2016, www.JancisRobinson.com, Drink: 2020-2030

Fresh and fragrant, the fruit exuberant and tannins dense and finely edged. Rich but vibrant with tension and form. Apr 2016, James Lawther MW, www.Decanter.com, Drink: 2020-2030

You’d expect the wine from top consultant Stéphane Derenoncourt’s own domaine to be good and it most certainly is in 2015. Rich and ripe, with fleshy dark fruit, plump tannins and chalky minerality. A seductive wine that ages well, too. Apr 2016, www.timatkin.com, Drink: 2020-2028
