Average Score 88.13

Soft and fruity with berry and chocolate character. Full body, and a juicy finish. Savory.
Solid, if austere wine. Sweet and ripe with good fruit concentration, balancing freshness and a firm, tannic frame. Drink 2018-2026.
The 2011 Destieux is a chunky, masculine wine with lots of tannin, a beefy, meaty constitution, and attractive dark fruit and earth notes. The tannins are slightly sharp at present, but should shed sufficiently to make this wine drinkable in several years. It will keep for 10-12 years thereafter. Wine Advocate.April, 2014
The Destieux has a very showy, rather over-extracted bouquet with raisin-like aromas. The palate is very ripe and sweet but without the requisite acidity, pushed too hard in the winery perhaps. It shows good weight on the oaky finish, but it seems too tannic. A second bottle exhibits more composure and better integration of oak (100% new) but it remains a little generic. Tasted April 2012.
