From the delicious Bourgogne Blanc up to the Grands Crus of Corton Charlemagne and Batard Montrachet, they are at the very top table in their respective class. The 2014 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru has a clean, well defined bouquet with hints of almond and white chocolate, although I was seeking a little more personality to come through. The palate shows the nose how it's done and it is probably more indicative: spice, ginger, almond, citrus fruit and a touch of white peach. This is very complex and the more you remain in its presence, the more it wins you over. Cellar this for 4-5 years and you should have a very fine Corton Charlemagne on your hands, but it covets its secrets for now. (Jan 2016), www.erobertparker.com, Drink 2019-2032



(from vines on the Aloxe side, which suffered only minor hail damage): Pale yellow. Musky, reduced nose suggests a tannic wine, offering hints of flint and petrol. Then superconcentrated and tactile but bone-dry, conveying a powerful impression of dry extract. Boasts terrific inner-mouth energy but this wine is very tightly coiled today, with its fruit totally hidden. The very long, slowly building finish is lifted by a spicy perfume. Fruit from Aloxe. Focused lemon and beeswax on the nose. Super-textural on the palate with huge, mouth-filling weight and chalky texture on the finish. Flavours of salted caramel, baked lemon, custard and beeswax. Long and luxurious.Dec 2015

Since taking full control of the family estate, Domaine Jean Boillot, in 2005, winemaker Henri Boillot has become renowned for the sheer quality of his wines, made using vines which are more than 60 years old. He renamed the estate Domaine Henri Boillot soon after taking it over to eliminate confusion with his brother’s estate, Domaine Jean-Marc Boillot.Boillot’s negociant arm, Maison Henri Boillot, is a benchmark producer of French estate wines which are outstanding examples of some of the Cote d-Or's most prestigious crus. From village-style Meursaults to Le Montrachet, Boillot’s wines have an intense minerality and are structured, linear and ageworthy. Although Henri does not own the vineyards from which his grapes are sourced, he farms them as meticulously as his own and uses the same methods to make the wines.
