This is aromatically restrained to the point of being almost mute and only grudgingly displays notes of citrus peel, green apple, white flowers and wet stone. There is excellent verve and intensity to the detailed and mineral-inflected broad-shouldered flavors that culminate in a focused, complex and powerfully long finish that is markedly austere and saline. This superbly long effort will need plenty of time to unwind as it's presently very, very tight but it should handsomely repay extended cellaring. Tasted: Jun 15, 2014. Drink: 2022+

The 2012 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is well-defined on the nose that opens up with freshly sliced lime, beeswax and honeysuckle aromas. The palate is well-balanced with good weight on the entry. This is a mouth-filling Corton-Charlemagne armed with impressive fruit intensity and tension toward the citrus-driven finish. Excellent! Drink now-2025. Wine Advocate.February, 2014

Since taking full control of the family estate, Domaine Jean Boillot, in 2005, winemaker Henri Boillot has become renowned for the sheer quality of his wines, made using vines which are more than 60 years old. He renamed the estate Domaine Henri Boillot soon after taking it over to eliminate confusion with his brother’s estate, Domaine Jean-Marc Boillot.Boillot’s negociant arm, Maison Henri Boillot, is a benchmark producer of French estate wines which are outstanding examples of some of the Cote d-Or's most prestigious crus. From village-style Meursaults to Le Montrachet, Boillot’s wines have an intense minerality and are structured, linear and ageworthy. Although Henri does not own the vineyards from which his grapes are sourced, he farms them as meticulously as his own and uses the same methods to make the wines.
