The 1985 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru is maturing well, although I would not describe it as a top-tier example from this fecund vintage. Now with almost three decades on the clock, it has a smudged red berry nose, the alcohol level just blurring the delineation. The palate is quite plump in the mouth with soft, melted tannins. There is a sweet core of fruit, but there is also some “toughness” on the finish. Drink now-2017. ||In February, Pierre-Antoine Rovani and Bernard Repolt trekked over to London to present a range of both recent and older vintages for their UK importer, Averys. If anyone needed convincing that Remoissenet can truly deliver at the top level, then one needs go no further than the stupendous Charmes-Chambertin 2011 that is among the best I have encountered with respect to that vintage. Perhaps with such a large portfolio of crus, gems likes these can get lost in the flurry of reviews, but they can only serve to enhance their reputation among Burgundy cognoscenti. eRobertParker.com.April, 2014

Remoissenet is one of Burgundy’s oldest names. The business is run from stunning 14th century buildings in Beaune, and, since 2005, quality has surged under the ownership of the Milstein family. FINE+RARE regularly ship Remoissenet wines direct from the domaine and have access to many excellent vintages going as far back as 1959.
