Sophie Fourcade's 2015 Clos Saint Martin, is the smallest Grand Cru Classé in Saint-Émilion and also one of the most intriguing wines of the vintage. Because of the tiny size of this parcel (just over one hectare), the fruit was fermented entirely in barrel. Unctuous, rich and silky on the palate, the 2015 is wonderfully polished and captivating, with lovely brightness to its red-fleshed fruit and tons of nuance to match. I can't wait to taste this from bottle. Tasted two times. Apr 2016, www.Vinous.com

The 2015 Clos St Martin, the diminutive estate that was sold back to Sophie Fourcade by the Cuvelier family, is a blend of 90% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. There was some reduction on the nose when I tasted the sample, though the palate is lush, powerful and sensual with layers of blackberry, raspberry and truffle, leading to a well-defined, kirsch and dried orange peel finish that feels as if it was pushed a little too much. It is a satisfying Clos Saint Martin - I wonder if it could have been even better? Apr 2016, www.eRobertParker.com, Drink: 2020-2045

Very fine, silky and refined with blueberry and blackberry character. Hints of asphalt. Medium body. Pretty. Mar 2016, JamesSuckling.com

Pretty and bright, with unadorned cassis and damson plum fruit racing along, carried by a light and well-integrated chalky thread. Shows lovely floral lift through the finish. Very pure and classy. Mar 2016, James Molesworth, www.WineSpectator.com

A Jean-Pierre Moueix wine. 90% Merlot with 5% of each Cabernet. Clay limestone on limestone bedrock. Mid crimson. Rather luscious mulberry fruit on the nose. Very sweet on palate entry - arguably just a bit too sweet to be refreshing. Apr 2016, www.JancisRobinson.com, Drink: 2022-2030

Micro-cru of 1.3ha. Very ripe and weighty (on the limit of being over-ripe) and full of damson, cherry and a hint of jam. Palate sweet, suave and packed with fruit. Freshness of the limestone terroir just pulls it back into balance. Apr 2016, James Lawther MW, www.Decanter.com, Drink: 2022-2035
