Along with Petrus, Clos l’Eglise is one of the finest wines of the vintage in Pomerol. Its deep ruby/purple color is accompanied by a sumptuous perfume of mocha, fudge, vanilla, black cherries, espresso, and plums, a creamy, full-bodied texture, gorgeous purity, and a long, persistent finish with no hard edges. It is quite an achievement! Anticipated maturity: now-2015. Wine Advocate.April, 2005

Tasted blind at Farr’s 2002 Bordeaux tasting. Amazing how well this Pomerol performs in blind tastings and no change here. It has quite a broody blackberry nose inflected with hints of Valrhona chocolate, sloe, Maraschino cherry and violets, opening up nicely in the glass. The full-bodied palate is modern and showing with fresh fig and raisin notes interwoven into those ripe toasty black fruits. Youthful, good persistency and a tannic, quite grippy finish that lingers in the mouth. Yet another great showing for Clos l’Eglise in a blind tasting. Tasted October 2009.
