Average critic rating : 88.5 points

The 1994 is a dense, ripe, chewy, medium to full-bodied St.-Emilion with plenty of pure black-cherry fruit intermingled with scents of Provencal herbs, olives, and toasty oak. This low acid, ripe claret is ideal for drinking over the next 7-8 years.|Stephan Neipperg, the proprietor of the more renowned Canon-La-Gaffeliere estate, is also the proprietor of Clos de l'Oratoire, which is making significant strides in quality.|All of the wines in this segment were tasted between March 19 and March 28 in Bordeaux. Most of the important wines from both the 1994 and 1995 vintages were tasted three separate times during my ten-day stay in Bordeaux. Wine Advocate.April, 1996

Silky and sexy with lovely berry, tobacco character and fine silky tannins. Medium-bodied, with a caressing texture and a succulent finish. From a château to watch. Best in 1999. James Suckling, Wine Spectator 1997
