There is enough reduction present to render evaluating the nose impossible. The cool, pure and restrained middle weight flavors exude a fine bead of minerality that adds a sense of lift to the dense yet refined mouth feel before a hint of bitter cherry arrives on the defined and lingering finish. This will need to add a bit of depth but if it does it could very well be a terrific Chambolle villages. Note that this should be approachable after only 4 to 5 years if desired. Jan 2016, www.burghound.com, Drink: 2021+
The 2014 Chambolle Musigny Clos de l'Orme appears to have more pinoté on the nose than the Vosne-Romanée Villages at the moment, perhaps better delineation with citrus-fresh red berry fruit mixed with orange zest wafting temptingly from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a confit-like opening, red plum and pomegranate, silky in the mouth with a succulent finish. This is a lovely wine from Cathiard. (50% new oak): Good dark red with ruby tones. Slightly reduced aromas of black raspberry, smoke, iron, earth and stony minerality. Juicy, intense purple fruit flavors show a fine-grained texture and noteworthy inner-mouth energy. Finishes with excellent length and lift but the spicy tannins come off as a bit drier than those of the Vosne villages, perhaps the result of the recent sulfur addition. Jan 2016, www.vinous.com
The Chambolle-Musigny Clos de l’Orme is a very elegant and charming wine with a gorgeous expression of the Chambolle terroir. In the nose, cool and refined red fruit with a delicate and forward Chambolle minerality. On the palate airy and refined red fruit … lightfooted but still intense and long. A delightful glass of pinot … love the tension and energy in this wine. Nov 2015, www.winehog.org, Drink: 2020+
