The 2009 Chambolle-Musigny Les Beaux-Bruns is rich immediate wine. The Beaux-Bruns shows excellent depth and mid-palate juiciness, not to mention terrific freshness for the year. There is a delineation and energy to the Beaux-Bruns that is rare in 2009. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. ||Barthod’s 2009s are just as impressive from bottle as they were from barrel. Barthod and her husband Louis Boillot told me they moved up their harvest date by four days in 2009 because the fruit was ripening quickly. That turns out to have been a very wise choice. The Barthod 2009s have wonderful energy to match the radiance of the year. Readers can’t go wrong with any of these superb 2009s eRobertParker.com.April, 2012

Dating back to 1920’s, Domaine Ghislaine Barthod is a collaboration between wine stalwarts Noellat and Barthod, and still in the family with additional vineyard help from family member Louis Boillot, though this separate premise is run very much as its own business. Chambolle is the appellation where the domain excels, with five 1er cru sites they hold just under 6 hectares of vines of about on average 30 years age. Partial destemming, natural yeast and about 20 months ageing reflect the respect for traditional methods. The last decade as Ghislane (junior) has taken over winemaking has seen a rise in already strong quality and greater recognition for this domain.
