The Chambertin Clos de Beze is a intense and slightly understated wine. The bouquet is currently somewhat closed showing juicy red berry fruit brought forward by a powerful and tightly knit earthy minerality. On the palate intense and powerful for the vintage … very tightly knit yet still quite transparent. It has a lovely sweet core of mid-palate fruit – juicy and energetic. It’s a mighty terroir … and this wine wi need 15 years or more to unfold. Impressed by the combination of intensity and the filigree refinement of the fruit. May 2016, www.winehog.org, Drink: 2030+
Good dark red. Ethereal aromas of red cherry, spices and dried flowers, plus a hint of chocolate liqueur. Wonderfully intense, seamless and lush, but with terrific integrated acidity giving punch to the very youthful cherry and rose petal flavors. The splendid rising, saline finish features fine-grained, glistening tannins and strong supporting fruit. Very alive and evolving slowly; the wine's explosive back end suggests that it has outstanding potential. Jan 2016, www.vinous.com
Once again very generous but not completely dominant wood serves as a borderline intrusive backdrop to the more elegant and spicier nose of various wild red berries that display added breadth in the form of earth, stone and floral nuances. There is excellent verve to the intensely mineral-driven and overtly powerful big-bodied flavors that deliver strikingly good persistence on the impeccably well-balanced finish. While this will improve over the next 15 to perhaps even 20 years it should be reasonably civilized after "only" 8 to 10 years of cellar time. Apr 2016, www.burghound.com, Drink: 2029+
