The outstanding 2010 Brunello di Montalcino gives you everything you want to see in a great wine, a great Tuscan wine. This monumental expression of Sangiovese delivers top-notch intensity with seamless integration of aromas. They span from dark fruit and Morello cherry to chocolate, spice, licorice, balsam herb and rosemary sprig. The energy and vitality of the vintage is locked perfectly within. This Brunello exhibits especially soft, silky tannins with long persistence and momentum. There is nothing out of place and the price tag is certainly not exaggerated for this level of excellence.

Gorgeous aromas of sea salt, savory, smoked meats and dried fruits follow through to a full body with fine tannins and a long, intense finish. So beautiful and enticing. Goes on for minutes. Excellent quality for the standard bottling of this winery. Better in 2016.

He is not new to triple-digit wine scores and I had given one to him before for the 2007 Brunello di Montalcino Cerretalto. I mention that because it is important to underline the impressive consistency in quality achieved by Casanova di Neri. Only a handful of Italian wineries can claim this distinction. His newest release from the exceptional Tenuta Nuova vineyard cru is a wine of soaring intensity, beauty and perfection. It's one of those wines you can't put down until the contents of the bottle have sadly dwindled to the final drops of precious liquid. The style is bold and opulent and the 2010 vintage is especially nuanced with the subtle beauty that only Sangiovese can display. eRobertParker.com.February, 2015

Casanova di Neri is a family-run Italian wine producer, located in Montalcino, Tuscany. They are best known for producing Brunello di Montalcino, including the critically acclaimed wines Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova and Cerretalto. The family also produce a concentrated and complex Cabernet Sauvignon, called Pietradonice. The estate was founded in 1971 by Giovanni Neri who later passed the winery to his son Giacomo in 1991. The production began with the Cerretalto vineyard, a unique piece of land with a natural amphitheatre and old Sangiovese vines that still produce wine for the top cuvees. After considerable research, the family continued to acquire land and now own 60 hectares of vineyards as well as 16 hectares of olive groves. Stylistically, Giacomo Neri describes the wines as being traditional in an innovative and modern way. The wines have received great accolades from the press, notably for the 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova which received a 100 point score from Robert Parker and 99 points from James Suckling.
