Average Score 87.0

40% Merlot, 60% Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep cherry crimson. Fresh, graphite with pure dark fruit. Lots of lead pencil on the palate and not at all leafy. Lovely purity and very silky, elegant tannins. Aromatic. Cool and fresh and elegant. Lightish but still has lovely scented length.
The 2011 Blason d’Issan is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot aged in 35% new oak. It has a light bouquet of blackberry, cassis and crushed violet. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, a tensile, very focused Blason that is fresh and perky, eschewing power and depth. Fine ‘n fresh. Tasted April 2012. Neal Martin,
Blending 60% Cabernet Sauvignon & 40% Merlot, the wine opens with smoke, truffle and black cherry, offering a cassis, black cherry finish. This will drink well young.
D’Issan’s second wine, the 2011 Blason d’Issan possesses dusty, earthy notes along with medium body, pleasant fruit and a simple, one-dimensional personality. Drink it over the next 7-8 years. Wine Advocate.April, 2014
