8 barrels made. Honeycomb on the nose with red, green and yellow apples, lemon custard and dried herbs. Very quiet and understated on the palate with flavours that build towards an intense richness in the mid-palate. Lemon custard, honey and caramel form a tight stream of flavours that move into a mineral/green-apple driven finish. Long and precise. Henri Boillot calls this "La force tranquille."Dec 2015
Admirably cool and pure aromas of peach, pear and apricot are trimmed in subtle nuances of smoke, tea and white flowers. There is seriously good richness and volume to the full-bodied, powerful and palate coating flavors that brim with dry extract on the sappy and utterly delicious finish where the persistence just goes on and on. Despite the excellent concentration, there is absolutely no heaviness; indeed this embodies what I call power without weight. Jun 2015,, Drink: 2021+
Straw-yellow. Musky oily peach aroma is much less showy than that of the Clos de la Mouchère. Round, fat, saline and quite dry, but the stone fruit and marzipan flavors are in the background today. Spreads out horizontally to coat the palate on the long finish, but this grand cru will require patience. 92+? Sep 2016,, Drink: 2021-2028
The 2013 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru has a terse, light estuarine-scented bouquet that takes time to unfold in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a saline entry, quite pointed in the mouth, but it needs a little more tension and detail on the slightly anonymous finish (compared to the Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet for example.) Let's see if this gains something in bottle. Dec 2014,, Drink: 2017-2030
