Average critic rating : 93.5 points

Dark red cherries, plums, smoke, mocha, licorice and cloves blossom in the 2010 Barolo Bricco Ambrogio. Plump and juicy to the core, the 2010 boasts gorgeous depth and resonance, all backed up by plenty of minerality and acidity. All the elements are beautifully balanced in the glass. I expect the 2010 will drink well with relatively minimum cellaring. Drink: 2018 - 2030

The 2010 Barolo Bricco Ambrogio bursts open with an immediate whiff of fresh flowers and crushed roses. Paolo Scavino bought the four-hectare, south-facing vineyard in 2001 the same moment he saw the listing. Crushed mineral tones appear at the back but those delicate fruit and floral tones take center stage. The wine is smooth and silky, although the tannic presence and acidity are very much in play. Drink: 2017-2030. ||Various American importers. eRobertParker.com.July, 2014

Paolo Scavino is an Italian wine producer based the Castiglione Falletto district of the Barolo region. The winery is comprised of 23 hectares which includes 19 of the historical Barolo crus located in Castiglione Falletto, Barolo, La Morra, Serralunga d’Alba, Verduno and Roddi. The family owned winery distinguishes itself with meticulous care for their vineyards and passion for terroir driven wines that are stylistically mindful of elegance. Only three indigenous grape varieties are used in the entire productions: Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto. The winery is currently run by Enrico Scavino, along with daughters Enrica and Elisa. Enrico started to work in the winery in 1951 when he was only 10 years old. Now with 60 years of experience behind him, he is one of the most respected winemakers in Piemonte and Paola Scavino wines are regarded as great quality throughout their range.
