A relatively soft, round, generously endowed wine with oodles of sweet kirsch fruit, a hint of black currants, herbs and loamy soil notes, this blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc was cropped at 35 hectoliters per hectare. Just over 1000 cases were made, and it tips the scales at 14.5% alcohol, which I believe is the highest they’ve ever seen at this estate. Wine Advocate.February, 2013

This is so good already. What an amazing precision of fruit for this wine, with a blackberry and blueberry character as well as minerals. Full and super silky with lovely fruit. Gourmand. Tasty. I want to drink it. Always great value! James Suckling jamessuckling.com

Dense and structured, with a slightly brooding feel to the coffee, dark plum and fig paste notes. But the flesh is round and supple, and the finish long and enticing, with a nice chalky streak waiting to emerge. Should come together well enough. —J.M. James Molseworth, winespectator.com

80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc. Dark glowing crimson. Quite full and rich and round. Thick and sweet. Much over delivery. Masses of fun. An early developer. jancisrobinson.com

Powerful constitution but attractive fruit and refined texture and tannins. Drink 2015-2022. (16.5 points) James Lawther, decanter.com

d?Aiguilhe ? This 50-hectare vineyard produced with a typical blend for the appellation, 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc is aged in 50% new oak. Dark, purple ruby in color, with a perfume of licorice, jammy dark berries and oak, the wine is round in texture and is filled with delicious ripe black and red fruits, chocolate and spicy, fresh berries. 90-92 Pts Jeff Leve winecellarinsider.com
