Pavie Macquin

Owned by the Corre-Macquin family, the vineyard has a prime location atop the plateau overlooking the limestone ledge of the Cote de Saint-Emilion, covering 15 hectares. Facing westward, opposite the mediaeval town, Pavie Macquin overlooks the small Fongaban Valley.

The clay-limestone soil on asteriated limestone bedrock provides superb natural drainage and a regular water supply. The high concentration of clay makes the wine strong, full-bodied and generous. The grape varieties are dominated by Merlot, but Macquin also uses Cabernet Franc and small parcels of Cabernet Sauvignon.

One of Saint-Emilion’s model chateaux, this beautiful estate uses traditional methods in the vineyard and cellar as well as selected modern techniques. Wines are matured in barrel for 14-18 months with 60% new oak.
