La Lagune

Chateau La Lagune was first named as a third growth in 1850, in the iconic (and still used today) Charles Cocks’ ‘Bordeaux and its Wines’. This status was confirmed 5 years later in the famous 1855 classification. The estate comprises of a traditional set of grape varieties; 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot, producing 200 000 bottles each year. They also offer a second wine ‘Moulin La Lagune’.

La Lagune has an 80 hectare vineyard in Haut-Medoc, between the Gironde estuary and the Atlantic. It faces an ideal direction (north-south) and benefits from a mild climate as well as the gravel soil on a clay and fossil limestone subsoil, ideal for grapevines.  The gravel allows the soil to drain and their white colour reflects the sun onto the grapes. This terroir gives the wines great finesse and elegance.
