Chateau Ducru Beaucaillou is one of the leading estates of St Julien, classified as a 2ème Cru Classé. Located to the south-east of the appellation, plantings consist of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. All grapes are harvested manually and vinified by plot. Large pebbles with alluvial soil deposits and clay characterise the terroir of this 75 hectare estate.
Wines mature for 18 months in barrels with 50 to 80% of these being new oak. The second wine is called La Croix de Beaucaillou.
