Alter Ego de Palmer

Chateau Palmer is located in the Margaux appellation and the wine produced here is classified as one of the Third Growths. The estate covers 55 hectares of gravelly soil, overlooking the Gironde river, spread out around the chateau. As traditional in the Medoc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot dominate the grape varieties grown in the vineyards, completed by a small parcel of Petit Verdot vines.

Harvesting is done completely by hand, beginning with the Merlot grapes then following with the other varieties. The picking plan is updated day by day based on the maturity of each individual plot. Sorting is also done manually to ensure the very best quality grapes are used each vintage.

Finally, maturation takes place in oak barrels, with 50-60% new oak used for Chateau Palmer.

Palmer’s second wine is Alter Ego de Palmer uses grapes selected from the same high quality terroirs, but is made using different winemaking techniques and proportions of grape varieties to create an earlier drinking wine. Alter Ego is matured in oak barrels, with 25%-40% new oak used.
