Chateau Charmail is located in haut Medoc, just two kilometres from the Saint Estèphe appellation. Plantings on the 28.5 hectares consist of 47 % Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot.

Wines mature for 12 months in new oak barrels, 33% of which are new, and wine is racked only twice a year. The second wine is called Tours de Chamail.
