Wine enthusiasts gathered in Oxford last night (February 1st) to listen to a talk on how to get the most from a misunderstood Burgundy appellation.
Isabelle Legeron MW delivered her second masterclass lecture on the region of Beaujolais, discussing the terroirs, vinification and appellations of the area, the Drinks Business reports.
Guests were invited to taste 18 fine wines from the region, including examples of all ten crus.
Most of the tastings were of the "fantastic" 2009 vintage, although the publication notes that some 2008s were brought out to show the benefits of ageing Beaujolais.
Ms Legeron will hold her final masterclass in Tunbridge Wells on February 7th.
Other areas of Burgundy can also expect high quality wines from the 2009 vintage.
The Daily Telegraph's wine critic Victoria Moore recently claimed that 2009 Burgundy has produced excellent wines from all appellations, with a great number of them being suitable for early drinking.
