More changes are afoot at The Wine Advocate, the wine-lover's bible founded by Robert Parker.
After Parker himself recently handed over responsibility for reviewing Californian wine to Antonio Galloni, choosing instead to focus on Bordeaux and the Rhone, Spanish critic Jay Miller has now resigned his post.
Miller's position had come under increasing scrutiny after a series of emails was published which appeared to suggest that the critic was being paid for Spanish wine visits.
However, Miller claims that this has nothing to do with his decision to quit, instead saying that he felt "constrained" while working for The Advocate.
He continued: "While the office has defended my actions, justifiably, now it is time for me to speak for myself.
"In what format I will do that remains to be seen. This much is clear ... I have never accepted (or requested) fees for visiting wine regions or wineries."
