Vintage port declared by Quinta do Noval
Quinta do Noval has declared its 2008 Vintage Port, although with production limited to less than 1,000 cases it might not be easy to find.
Previous declarations were made in 1966/67 and 2003/04 and Quinta do Noval's managing director said that he does not expect 2008 to be a year of general declaration, Harpers Wine & Spirit Reports.
While it is unusual to see two consecutive vintages declared together, Mr Seely said a small quantity of wines from the Quinta's best terroirs were too good not to release.
"Strikingly different in personality from the 2007 Vintage, the 08 is nevertheless classic Noval, with great depth and harmony and the finesse and elegance that always characterise the best wines of the property," he told the publication.
Quinta do Noval solidified its reputation with the declaration of the 1931 vintage, which today is one of the most valuable and sought-after vintage ports in the world.
