Bid For Wine has launched a charity auction in support of the wine world's answer to Comic Relief, which will see vintage port and champagne go under the hammer for a good cause.
The online auction house is putting a number of lots up for sale until midnight tonight (March 18th), including a six-litre bottle of Dow's 2007 Vintage Port, a signed magnum of Pol Roger Vintage Brut 2000 champagne and a bottle of Chateau Pape Clement 1996 Pessac-Leognan, the Drinks Business reports.
Money raised from the sale will go towards Wine Relief, a fundraising campaign devoted to helping the Comic Relief cause in Africa and the UK.
"We're really pleased to bring this event to a worldwide audience of wine lovers and are tremendously excited by the lots on offer," Bid for Wine managing director Lionel Nierop told the Drinks Business.
Last month, the Wine Spectator reported that a magnum of Chateau Montrose St Estephe 2000 took centre stage at the annual charity wine dinner for the Mary Wade Home in Connecticut.
