Of all the places a person would expect to be able to enjoy a fine glass of Burgundy or Bordeaux, an American sports stadium would be pretty low down the list.

However, according to the Associated Press, that is exactly what is happening at baseball stadia across North America.

AT&T Park in San Francisco, home of the San Francisco Giants, is now receiving wide praise for its wine offerings, while Boston Red Sox fans can enjoy some high-end vintages from France and Italy at Fenway Park.

"The folks that are going to these sporting events nowadays aren't just looking for standard beer or mass-produced wines. They're much more sophisticated from a food and wine standpoint," Napa Valley grower Tim Carl told the news agency.

In the UK, Reading Football Club's Madejski Stadium recently hosted a trade launch for the Big Wine Festival, which is expected to attract 120,000 to the town next year.
