Top 2009 Bordeaux wines 'stunning'
The top wines from the 2009 Bordeaux vintage are absolutely stunning, it has been suggested, with Petrus and Chateau Latour producing notable highlights.
Elin McCoy, in an article for Bloomberg, claimed that the 2009 Yquem is "staggering", while the "silky" La Fleur Petrus and the "suave, richly fruity" Trotanoy were impressive.
She added: "There will be a few good buys as futures, such as spicy Chateau Corbin, plummy Greysac, rich-textured La Tour de By and savoury d'Angludet."
The critic was not impressed by all the wines on offer, however, noting that she was not overly fond of those wines with "raisiny overripe flavours" and bitter tannins from overextraction in the cellar, with the 15 per cent alcohol being too much for her palate.
Wine critic Jancis Robinson, writing for the Financial Times, recently said that she has never had so much fun in tasting the bordeaux en primeur.
