Taittinger is to release a very limited edition of its 2000 Comtes de Champagne prestige cuvee.
The estate will release 100 bottles of the Champagne, each with its own 30kg stone case, the Drinks Business reports.
Taittinger is releasing the special edition packaging to mark the 800th anniversary of Reims cathedral, and the stone used comes from the monument itself.
All the proceeds from the sale of the 100 bottles are to be donated towards the upkeep of the historic landmark.
Each stone case comes with a glass window and is enclosed in an oak box. The publication notes that the total package is so heavy that each purchase will be strapped to a wheeled carrier for the buyer to transport it.
Champagne Gosset has also announced it will be introducing new packaging, although for slightly different reasons.
France's oldest Champagne estate has revealed it will now be using all sustainable materials for its packaging.
