Robert Parker: 2007 Bordeaux overpriced, 2008 underpriced
Robert Parker believes prices for the 2007 Bordeaux are too high, while in contrast the better-performing 2008s have been priced below their potential.
Enthusiasm over the exceptional en primeur 2009 scores somewhat overshadowed the heavyweight critic's results for 2007, which were released around the same time and praised Lafite, Ausone and L'Eglise Cinet, the Drinks Business reports.
"The Bordelais have suffered the consequences of their decision over the last few years," the publication reports Mr Parker as saying.
"The irony is that they priced the 2007s too high and the far superior 2008s too low."
Prices for the 2008s have risen significantly in recent months, driven up in part by Robert Parker's scores, while the results for 2007 saw little change from his initial impressions.
Meanwhile, the future looks particularly bright for 2009, as no fewer than 21 chateaux gained the potential to achieve a perfect 100-point ranking.
